I Almost Didn’t Publish This

Nobody handed me this.

I know that sounds blunt, but I spent a long time waiting for the business to come to me the way everyone sort of implied it would when I got my license. Work hard, be a good person, and the phone will ring. And listen, I believed that. I wanted to believe that.

It didn’t work like that.

There were stretches where I seriously questioned whether I was cut out for this. Months where the income was unpredictable and the self-doubt was crippling. Real estate looks a certain way from the outside, and from the inside it can feel like everyone else has something figured out that you just…don’t.

That season, all of it together, did something to me I didn’t expect.

It stopped me from waiting for permission.

When you realize no one is coming to save your pipeline, you either quit or you figure out who you actually are as an agent. And I figured out that the version of me I’m most proud of is not the one who had everything handed to her. It’s the one who built something real, in the middle of real life, when it was genuinely hard.

This business is unpredictable. I won’t pretend otherwise. But it’s also full of moments that make you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. A client who texts you a year later just to say thank you. A family that got the house they almost gave up on. An afternoon where everything clicks and you think, okay, this is it, this is why I do it.

I almost didn’t publish this one.

It felt like too much, too honest, maybe not “professional” enough. But then I remembered that the whole reason I’m still doing this is because of the relationships I’ve built with people who actually know me, not a curated version of me.

I want my business to be built on that. Real relationships with real people who trust me because they know who I am, not just what I do.

So I hit publish.

If you made it to the end of this one, thank you for reading and for being my people!
