What I Told Her At The Kitchen Table

I sat across from a client a few weeks ago and she asked me something I wasn’t expecting.

We’d been talking through her options for a while… the numbers, the timing, whether it made sense to sell now or wait. And right in the middle of all of it she just stopped and said, “okay but what would YOU do? Like actually, if this were your house?”

And I told her the truth.

“I’d wait six months and here’s why…”

I could have given her the safe answer. The professional, hedge-everything, “well it really depends on your situation” answer. But she didn’t need that. She needed someone to just be straight with her.

That’s the part of this job I take really seriously. Not the contracts or the negotiating (although I love that part too). It’s the moment someone trusts you enough to ask what you’d actually do. And you owe them a real answer.
